Your first body contouring and firming session is where we get to know you and what you are hoping for, and lay the groundwork for your programme together. It starts with a short conversation, continues with a body care device and hand massage, and ends with a few suggestions for afterwards. Here is how to prepare, what happens during the session and what to keep in mind once it is over.
Why does the first session start with a conversation?
We spend the first few minutes talking, because we need to get to know you before we can plan a programme around you. We talk about which area you would like us to work on, your daily routine and what you expect from this care.
Body contouring and firming is not a way to lose weight but body care made up of regular sessions. As the sessions go on, the aim is a firmer, more toned look for the area. Every body responds differently, and we talk through what you can expect in this conversation.
What do we ask at your first consultation, and why?
At your first consultation we ask a few questions, so that we can work out together whether the care is suitable for you and plan a comfortable session. If any of the following applies to you, please tell us before your appointment:
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- A pacemaker, or any metal or electronic implant in the body
- A long-term condition, or medication you take regularly
- Recent surgery on the area
- An open wound, irritation or sensitivity on the area
- A high temperature, or a time when you are feeling unwell
During a session you may feel warmth, pulling or vibration in the area, which is why we need to know in advance about things like an implant or recent surgery. Where needed, we postpone the session or suggest you speak to your doctor first. We do not offer this service during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. This list is a general guide and does not replace your doctor’s assessment.
How should you prepare for your first session?
You do not need to do much to prepare. A few small things help the session feel more comfortable, and if this is your first time at a salon, our post on your first visit to a beauty salon may help too:
- Eat lightly beforehand: try not to eat a heavy meal just before your session. A gap of a few hours after your last meal makes lying down more comfortable.
- Drink water: it is a good idea to drink enough water the day before and on the day of your session.
- Wear comfortable clothes: choose something comfortable that is easy to take off.
- Tell us about the area: if the area is sunburnt or irritated, or you have recently had waxing or hair removal there, or used a hair removal cream, please tell us before your appointment.

What happens at your first session, step by step?
The first session follows the same order as the later ones; we simply spend a little longer on the conversation. Please allow about an hour, including the conversation, preparation and finishing touches.
- A short conversation: we talk about what you are hoping for, the area we will work on and whether there is anything we should know about.
- Preparation: we cleanse the area and apply a suitable gel or care product so that the device moves comfortably over the skin.
- Device-assisted care: we work on the area with the body care device, using the head that suits it. Depending on the head, you may feel gentle warmth, pulling or vibration.
- Finishing with hand massage: we round off the session with a calm hand massage over the area.
- Suggestions: we apply a body care cream to the area and share a few short suggestions for after your session.
What does a body contouring session feel like?
A body contouring session is meant to feel calm and comfortable. Depending on the device head, you may feel gentle warmth, pulling or vibration in the area; these sensations are a normal part of the care.
We always set the intensity to what is comfortable for you. If anything feels uncomfortable at any point, just tell us. At the first session we check in with you often, and we plan the following sessions around what you tell us.
What should you do after your first session?
You can carry on with your day as normal after the session. The suggestions below are simply there to help you feel more comfortable.
- Drink enough water during the day.
- For the first 24 hours, stay away from saunas, the hammam, very hot showers and intense exercise.
- A gentle walk is fine.
- We suggest keeping alcohol to a minimum for a few days.
After a session the area may look slightly pink or feel warm for a short while. If this lasts a long time or bothers you, please message us.
How many sessions will you need after the first?
Body contouring and firming is not a one-off session; it is a programme of regular sessions. We usually plan 1-2 sessions a week and most often suggest a programme of 6-10 sessions. Every session is planned and carried out to a personalised protocol, so your numbers may differ.
We update the plan with you as the programme goes on. Coming to your sessions regularly, staying active during the day and keeping a balanced routine all matter. This care does not replace exercise, a balanced diet or enough sleep; it complements them. Our post on how body contouring works explains the care as a whole in more detail.
Frequently asked questions
Will I see a difference after the first session?
A visible change is the aim over the course of your programme rather than after the first session. That is why we plan your sessions at regular intervals. After the first session, you may notice a pleasant feeling of relaxation in the area.
Does the session hurt?
It is not usually painful. Depending on the device head, you may feel gentle warmth, pulling or vibration; if anything feels uncomfortable, we adjust the intensity straight away.
Can you work on more than one area in the same session?
It depends on the areas you choose and your session plan; we decide how many areas to include together at your first consultation. The areas you choose also shape how long the session takes.
Can I have body contouring if I exercise regularly?
Yes. You can think of it as a care programme that sits alongside your exercise and a balanced diet. We suggest avoiding intense exercise for the first 24 hours after a session.
